As the New Year is upon us, many travellers will be looking to book their holidays in order to get the best deals on trips intended for fun and sun; but for heavy metal fans now is the time to start booking travel to festivals in one of the most exciting years to be a heavy metal fan in recent memory. With so many festivals to pick from, this article picks the best of the bunch to make the decision as easy as possible.

Kicking off the year in truly evil style is the Inferno Metal Festival, held annually during Easter in Oslo, Norway. With this year’s event taking place from 19–22 March, the current line-up includes such names as Satyricon, Cult of Luna, 1349 and Behemoth. Due to the extreme sound of most of the bands playing Inferno, it is unlikely the festival will ever grow to be as big as the more mainstream metal festivals, but like previous years, it is likely to attract travellers from across the globe in shared appreciation of all things extreme, and despite the brutality onstage, the festival has a friendly and inviting atmosphere.

Rock am Ring and Rock im Park are two concurrent festivals held annually in Germany, this year held between 6–8 June. Both festivals have the same line-up, Rock am Ring taking place in the west of Germany and Rock im Park taking place in the south-east, with artists rotating between the two sites over the course of the three-day event. Together Rock im Park and Rock am Ring forms the largest music festival in Germany and one of the largest in the world – last year had a combined attendance of 150,000. This year’s line-up will include Rage Against the Machine, Motörhead, Bullet For My Valentine, The Hellacopters and Metallica.

In the UK, the biggest metal festival of the year is the Download Festival. Held at Donnington Park, the venue used for the Monsters of Rock Festivals between 1980 and 1996 and the 2002 UK Ozzfest, it is sacred ground to many headbangers around the world. This year’s festival is scheduled for 13–15 June and the line–up is rumoured to include Metallica, Judas Priest, Muse, Kiss and Machine Head.

Wacken Open Air is the largest, exclusively metal music festival in the world, taking place annually in the small town of Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany. Since its humble beginnings in 1990 it has grown to become the major festival on the European metal calendar, attracting fans and bands from all over the world. This year it is set to take place from 31 July–2 August and the bands playing include As I Lay Dying, At the Gates, Children of Bodom, Iron Maiden, Killswitch Engage, Kreator and Nightwish.

Visitors wishing to travel to the festivals can take advantage of promotional flights throughout Europe, with most low-cost airlines currently offering their lowest prices for summer travel. While many assume that they have existing travel insurance that will cover most things, such as made available from their credit card, this type of cover tends to be rather basic and only covers accidents incurred during travel rather than after reaching final destination. Travellers should therefore compare credit cards to ensure theirs gives them the comprehensive cover required or take out additional insurance for the trip.

And finally, heavy metal fans are advised to invest in a pair of decent earplugs in order to block out nasty frequencies emanating from the amps and PAs at the festivals, ensuring their appreciation for heavy metal can be continued for years to come.

Today the metal band seem seeking and only the few metal community who is still exist.but beside that there are so many the new metal band who comes up to the surface.but the metal band still authorized by the old metal band such as the Father of metal band METALLICA,nightwish, dimmu borgir,LAMB OF GOD and many more.the new metal band is hard to beat the old metal band, there is no answer why could be that.

But the metal band only develop in several countries especially in EUROPE and AMERICA. in ASIA there are several band who can also to fight to get the audience or listener.the most phenomenal band is nightwish the metal band from sweden, slayer and opeth.Nightwish has a women vocalist that in this years has awarded Swedish Metal Awards 2008 and opeth has great welcome for their new album with the tittle watershed.

As we know in Europe and metallica there are so many music metal festival that make the music metal can be develop so they born the best metal band each year.because they give the change to express the music and then they also can learn from the senior metal band how to make the best music metal.it is very different with the Asia who do not have the famous metal band.but recently I heard there is the metal band from japan who will perform in USA.I think in Asia and the other countries has the best metal band the differences is the do not have a change to perform they metal music.
so this is make sense why the only Europe and America countries who always reborn the best next metal band.

The music known as heavy metal has for years been misunderstood and much maligned by the general public each and every time they see someone in heavy metal clothing. This is very much due to the associations the genre has with negative social concerns including that of religion and the many cases of fans running afoul with the law. These same fans attend heavy metal concerts drinking large amounts of alcohol and end up drunk, leading to problems and accidents normally associated with the condition, including drunken fights and car accidents. Heavy metal bands and artistes generally do not help much to improve the image of the genre, as they are often portrayed as drunken rebels who indulge in material excesses such as the above-mentioned alcohol binges and drug use.

However, there are heavy metal artistes and bands who are wholly professional about their art, and are known as hardworking musicians who dedicate hours upon hours to their craft and music. Bands such as Dream Theater and surprisingly, Metallica, are serious musicians despite the latter’s famous partying ways often reported in the media. Music magazines that concentrate on specific musical instruments have invited various band members to provide musical and performance advice, and these individuals are very much lauded in the professional music industry for their effort and abilities. In fact, heavy metal bands can often boast of members who number amongst the top musicians in their specific musical instruments. Dream Theater’s John Petrucci has, for years, been considered one of the most gifted guitarists in modern times, and has been voted in numerous awards.

So it is solely the result of the merits derived from the work of these heavy metal musicians that the genre itself has over the years, been taken more seriously in both the music and entertainment industries. While heavy metal music has its foundations in basic power chords, chugging rhythms and fast paced songs, the many sub genres that has spawned from a free spirited creativity in the community has resulted in it being one of the most versatile musical genre in history. There are many camps within heavy metal that swear by its more specialized forms, but these purists also encourage diversity and exploration from their own work. It is not uncommon to find heavy metal bands to have a wide repertoire throughout their discography. The more mainstream bands such as Metallica have one time or another in their career, explored different musical forms such as classical, rock and even pop.

Perhaps to emphasize the influence heavy metal has had on both the industry and the public has been the increasing number of heavy metal acts that have populated the popular music charts, as well as the growing visibility of the genre in commercial marketing and advertising avenues. Heavy metal merchandise continues to be one of the top selling products in various forms, from heavy metal shirts and CD sales, to other apparel and even tattoos. Many heavy metal bands, no matter how underground they consider themselves to be, are also keen to include merchandise sales in their efforts to promote themselves and the music. Even the hardest forms within the genre such as black and death metal have been able to break into the consciousness of the public in major European countries, making constant appearances in their musical charts.

Almost all musical instruments come with different gear or accessories. Each of these gear or accessories has its own specific functions and is used for different compositions by the musicians. However, in western music guitar, drums and synthesizers are most sought after musical instruments. Every musician uses these instruments in their music concerts.

Earlier these instruments were hand made and intricately designed and were made mostly out of different kinds of wood. Nowadays, with the advancement of technology, metal instruments and metal music gear have come into use. After a few decades, metal music gear have become very popular.

Instruments like drums, which were previously made from wood, are now being made of metal or steel. In a drum set the gear like cymbals are made of metals. And now drums like snare drums are also being made of metal. Here we will be discussing different instruments which are made from metal.

Drum gear which are made of metal

Cymbals – Cymbals produce sound which is very metallic. So, these gear have always been made from various metals. Brass is one of the most commonly used metals in music gear making.

Some of the most used cymbals are Hi hat, crash cymbal, ride cymbal, splash cymbal, china cymbal, sizzle cymbal and a few others. The hi hat is a core element in the drum set because it is used as the primary time keeper. It is actually a pair of cymbals which are made of brass, mounted on a specialized stand. The ride cymbal is the second most important time keeper of the cymbal types. It is typically the largest cymbal in your setup and has a nice open sound. Ride cymbals vary in thickness, which has an influence on attack, volume, and tone of the sound.

The bell or domed center is usually quite big which allows for pronounced accents within a rhythm or dedicated patterns on or off the beat. Crash cymbals are designed to accent a rhythm. Large crash cymbals work well to either expand your current range or limit the number of cymbals needed since they serve well as a light ride.

A Splash cymbal is the smallest of the crash family. They have the same purpose but their use is different. Splash cymbal sounds great when it is hit in unison with a snare drum or tom drum. China cymbal is often used like a splash cymbal. Chinese have the most unique shape of the cymbal types. Clash cymbals or hand cymbals are cymbals used in identical pairs and are played by holding one cymbal in each hand and striking the two together.

Conclusion

Nowadays, a whole drum kit along with its various drums, cymbals, and drumsticks are made of different types of metals. Snare drums, and bass drums have metallic body. The metal helps to improve the sound quality and makes it maintenance free. The microphones and the stands which are required along with these instruments are also made of metal.

As I stated on my other heavy metal blog list, this is just who I like. Not a matter of technical performance or record sales or popularity. These are just the vocalists that you will find on my MP3 Player and on the Flash Drives in my car. I enjoy all music, just some more then others. Now lets end this list!

#5 – Brian Johnson – Obviously you can’t think of Brian Johnson’s music without AC/DC coming up. You know what, that’s fine with me. After the passing of Bon I don’t think anyone thought that voice could be filled, but Brian has done that with dignity and respect to the band. The new generation doesn’t really know that there was a different voice at the mic of AC/DC that has to say something about the talent of this man. Brian is so high on the list because of the amazing catalogue of music that he will forever be known for.

#4 – James Hetfield – Not the James Hetfield from the documentary “Some Kind of Monster”, but the James Hetfield us metal heads know and love from “Kill Em All”. James has an amazing voice that compliments not only his own guitar playing but also that of fellow shredder Kirk Hammett. Metallica is the band that all others strive to be and that is in a big part because of the vocals of their main man. Metallica is Metallica and I love it. Growl you bastard growl.

#3 – Vince Neil – This is very shocking to some reading this site including my wife because I am a huge Motley Crue fan, but the fact is I’m a Motley Crue fan, not really a massive Vince Neil fan. Vince needs Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, and Tommy Lee to be complete. That has been proven time and time again with his sub par solo career, but with that being said no one else could sing the songs I love like Vince (the John Corabi experiment), so that puts him at number 3. I think my wife puts him at #1 for other reasons, but this is vocals not…

#2 – Bruce Dickenson – When you talk about Heavy Metal Music can you possibly have a conversation without this man. Bruce’s music speaks for itself. I’m not a fan of the best Iron Maiden front man argument simply because there really is no other. Bruce is the standard which most singers gauge their performance. Seeing this man use that range live is something you will never forget. Eddie might be the Maiden mascot, but Bruce is the voice and always will be. SCREAM FOR ME WE LOVE METAL!

#1 – Ronnie James Dio – Believe it or not until a couple of years ago I really didn’t know that much about Dio, until Vince had me listen to Holy Diver. I was blown away that a Heavy Metal Musician could sound so dark and evil one moments and so operatic the next. I’m one of those people that will pick Dio over Ozzy in Sabbath (or Heaven and Hell) any day of the week. Heaven and Hell, Lady Evil, Mob Rules, incredible songs that need no justification. Not to mention the fact that he raised Rainbow to new heights with hits like “The Man on Silver Mountain” and his solo career was off the charts. Dio is the voice of Heavy Metal and the image that will keep it strong into the future. If you think he’s getting old check out the new H&H album and you be the judge. SHOW ME THE HORNS DIO!

That’s the end, do your worst!
