@jkjl234 yeah they made it popular, yeah everyone knows metallica. its how most people got it to it. but what i saying most metellar. who play cite megadeth as the leaders muscially. kerry king, scott ian. mark mortom (lamb of god) said megadeth was the band that got him sold on metal. as said peace sells one of the greatest heavy metal album. i would also say even tho metallica are by far the most popular. in moving thrash forward slayer a megadeth had an equal hand. and mastodon fucking rules

I love Mastodon, saw them open for Dethklok last year. they played some shit from leviathan surprisingly it was so epic, awesome live video (i need to get this dvd xD)
@jonorancid yeah, but if we’re talking about HEAVY METAL, yanno, the music, not just the skill or virtuosity of the playing, i feel like metallica was always at the head of the pack. there’s no doubt that skill wise, mustaine and his crew were/are better than hetfield and hammet, but the songs metallica wrote were definitely more influential to the genre.
